7 Days To Go!

What is Don't Talk During Jeopardy?

It all started at the Old Fashioned where neither Katie nor Nathan drank, but the cheese curds are okay. Their first date coincided with Jeopardy!, and while Katie was locked in tracking every category and mentally phrasing her responses in the form of a question, Nathan was busy trying to actually get to know her. He claims she checked out his biceps on multiple occasions. Katie claims her eyes were glued to the show.

Nathan’s strategy? Constant conversation. Katie’s strategy? Trying to politely signal that "The Arts & Leisure" category required her full concentration. She was more than a little annoyed that Nathan hadn't figured out the golden rule of televised trivia: you talk during the commercials, and only during the commercials. Fortunately, Nathan’s charm eventually won out over the Final Jeopardy clue, and a second date was booked. Even more shocking, it was the longest it ever took Katie to eat a plate of the cheese curds.

Their first fall was defined by

Biking Adventures: Exploring trails and soaking up the crisp air. Extreme competitions were had including a speed race spanning over three weeks. Katie doesn't remember who won but claims of substance enhancers were thrown around Lance Armstrong style.

The Great Yarn Tour: Nathan officially clocked more hours in yarn stores than he ever thought humanly possible, patiently waiting while Katie hunted for the perfect skein.

Kitchen Collaborations: They discovered a shared language in cooking, turning Sunday nights into a rotating menu of new recipes.

They’ve continued to cover a lot of ground

The Colorado Altitude Bet: Katie surprised Nathan with a trip to Colorado, where Nathan made a fatal error: he bet against her. He didn't think she could run a half-mile at high altitude. Katie, fueled by spite and competitive spirit, did it and looked scowling doing it. She waited until they were back at sea level to finally admit she was actually on the verge of passing out the entire time.

The Viral Ski Trip: Soon after, Nathan surprised Katie with a romantic ski getaway, which would have been perfect if Katie hadn’t immediately come down with a full-blown case of COVID. In a display of pure stubbornness, she still tried to hit the slopes before eventually admitting defeat and beginning a "scavenger hunt" through every local drugstore for supplies.

The Alaska Pun-Fest: A breathtaking trip to Alaska that was, unfortunately for Nathan, approximately 40% scenery and 60% Juneau jokes. ("Do you know the way to the capital?" "No, but Juneau?")

Door County Weekends: Their reliable "reset" button, filled with quiet charm and a break from the usual chaos of daily life.

Zion Napping: A trip to Zion National Park where they saw the sights, and Nathan saw the inside of his eyelids. He perfected the art of the "tactical nap," proving he can sleep anywhere, even in the middle of a world-class geological wonder.

The St. Louis "National Park" Debate: While standing at the Gateway Arch, Nathan enjoyed the view while Katie spent the entire time frowning. She remains a staunch "National Park Gatekeeper," maintaining that a giant metal curve in a city should not share the same status as the Grand Canyon.

Family Moments: The stakes got higher when Katie met Nathan’s kids. It was a beautiful milestone, but it also served as a moment of clarity for Nathan: he was officially outnumbered in the chaos. Whether it was the energy or the sheer volume of a full house, Katie didn't just fit in; she became a co-conspirator in the madness. Recently, the chaos crew introduced Sevvie, the mini bernedoodle, to the group.

Katie and Nathan are thrilled to take on this next chapter of life.
